Tecate (American Adjunct Lager, 4.5%)

Nothing goes better in the hot sun than a cold can of Tecate. It’s always nice to add a lime, but this beer is good enough without. In our opinion, it doesn’t have that bland taste that some of the mass-market lagers have, so they go down smooth — especially when they’re ice-cold! You can usually find these cheap, too. Good to have a 12 pack around when summer rolls around.

Harpoon’s UFO (Witbier, 4.8%)

Wheat beers are a favorite amongst beer drinkers because they are easy drinking. We really like the UFO from Harpoon because of its well-balanced orange and coriander flavors, which are really subtle. If you’re into Blue Moon, this is similar, but with less bite. If you plan on being in the sun all day, a lower alcohol beer might help to keep you sober. It’s also great to eat with steamed mussels; traditionally Witbiers stand up well with slightly heartier foods.

Dale’s Pale Ale (American Pale Ale, 6.5%)

Craft beer in a can really works well. Oskar Blues embraced the trend early on and was rewarded as one of the pioneers. This beer is one of our favorite year-round beers, but it’s not a bad choice for summer sipping, especially. It pours golden, with a modest white head, and the nose is a bit like an IPA. It only comes in 12 packs, but it does goes down smoothly, so if you’re looking for a flavorful, moderate alcohol beer, pick it up.

Saranac Prism White (American Pale Wheat Ale, 4.2%)

Saranac really gets a bad rap with so many other craft breweries in the U.S. Reality is, Saranac has really been stepping up its game with more experimental brews. Their Prism White Ale, which is brewed with peach juice, is a surprisingly tasty beer we really enjoy. Don’t let the 4.2% fool you! This beer is also has hints of coconut, tangerines, and pineapple. We see this as the beer that the women of the party might want to drink. Usually sold for about $13.00 a 12 pack, this budget-friendly beer should really earn a spot in your fridge.

Ithaca Beer Company Flower Power (American IPA, 7.5%)

HOLY IPA. These two words describe Ithica Beer Co. Flower Power, but in the nicest way! This super hoppy beer hits with notes of grapefruit and tangerine flavors that finish slightly dry. Its unique mixture of hops makes it the ideal total guys beer, with it boasting a 7.5% alcohol content. Make sure you serve cold and enjoy with a nice cheeseburger. Also be smart; make sure you have a designated driver if you’re drinking more than 2.
