STIFF DRINKS - THE ROSEMARY GREYHOUND

L
IKE EVERYTHING IN LIFE, SOMETIMES THE ROUTINE CAN GET STALE. HAVING THE SAME COCKTAIL AT ALL TIMES OF THE YEAR CAN BE BORING. WHEN THE TEMPERATURES STARTS TO RISE, WE TEND TO MOVE AWAY FROM WHISKEY-BASED MANHATTAN’S AND OLD FASHIONS AND MOVE TOWARDS A CLEANER, REFRESHING AND SOMETIMES A LITTLE SWEETER OPTION. THE GREYHOUND IS ANOTHER SIMPLE-TO-MAKE COCKTAIL THAT NO GUY SHOULD FEAR MAKING. USING A BASE SPIRIT, (GIN OR VODKA) YOU SIMPLY COMBINE GRAPEFRUIT JUICE AND A LITTLE SIMPLE SYRUP AND YOU’RE DONE. SERVE IT STRAIGHT UP OR ON THE ROCKS. WE ACTUALLY INFUSED OUR SIMPLE SYRUP WITH ROSEMARY TO GIVE IT A LITTLE MORE COMPLEXITY. MAKING COCKTAILS AT HOME FOR YOURSELF OR FOR FRIENDS DOESN’T HAVE TO BE COMPLICATED.

INGREDIENTS:

Rosemary simple syrup
1   cup water
1   cup sugar
1 sprig of fresh rosemary
-
5   oz. Red grapefruit juice
2   oz. vodka (We use oTito’s)
1   oz. Rosemary Simple Syrup
Rosemary sprigs for garnish
Grapefruit slices for garnish

TOOLS NEEDED:

Rocks glass or small glass
Cocktail shaker
Paring knife
Large ice cube tray (Optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

- Start by making the rosemary simple syrup. 1 cup water to 1 cup sugar and let the rosemary steep in the syrup. If you need it quickly, steeping for an hour should be a sufficient amount of time to give you some flavor. For more flavor, give it a little more time.

- Add the grapefruit juice, vodka and rosemary syrup into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake or stir and pour it over a large ice cube or glass of crushed ice. Garnish with rosemary sprig and grapefruit slice.
