After choosing the 1 of 3 different leather styles, we placed our pre-order via the Beckett Simonon website. QUALITY

The Beckett Simonon Domingo Duffle Bag is spectacular. You’re hard pressed to find a better looking duffle bag in the market. The bag is made from full grain leather. La Hispano, a small company in Argentina, which has been producing fine leathers for over three generations, tans it in a six-week cycle. Being full-grain means the outer layer of the hide, where the fiber and grain density is highest, remains as natural as possible without any artificial correction. This is the best type of leather as it preserves the original grain structure resulting in higher durability and in a natural look that just gets better with time. No matter the leather color or style you choose, we can assure you of its quality. With the Domingo Duffle Bag, the last thing you need to worry about is how long until the bag breaks down. This leather bag is tough.

Featuring solid brass rivets and Japanese-made YKK Everbright zippers, you don’t have worry about things breaking down after years of use. The interior of this bag is lined in mid-weight cotton twill. Sporting 3 large pockets, this bag isn’t devoid of extra details. It also features a leather lined zippered pocket, a removable shoulder strap with metallic hardware, and 2 separate padded pockets on the opposite side of the bag for protection. The small details are all accounted for. There aren’t many products that blow us away at first glance. This bag was the exception. We’ve seen some bags in the market with a lot less for a lot more money. With ample amount of space for a long weekend or quick trip, this bag will be traveling with us for years to come.

DESIGN

Overall, the Beckett Simonon Domingo Duffle Bag doesn’t follow the script of most other duffle bags. Rather than your standard cylindrical shape duffle bag, the Domingo is more trapezoid shaped. It tapers from top to bottom and gives the bag a unique and one-of-a-kind look. With reinforced brass riveted leather straps, this bag doesn’t want to just look good, it’s tough too. The handles on this bag are reinforced with more leather and a snap closure. YKK zippers ensure a smooth action every time. This means it won’t get stuck whenever you open or close it. On one side of the bags outer face, the Domingo gives you a zippered pocket to hold things, such as your phone or boarding pass. The additional strap allows the bag to be worn on your shoulder and can be removed and stored inside when you’re not using it.

On the inside, the Domingo doesn’t disappoint. Lined in a cotton twill, there’s no need to worry about clothing being roughed up while inside. The interior includes a leather-trimmed zipper pocket on one side and two padded pockets on the other side. This means you can separate things that are most important and need securing. Items like your passport or watch can be fastened into this pocket and you won’t have to worry about digging around for it later. It’s important to also note that with the Beckett Simonon Domingo Duffle Bag, you’ll have the option of buttoning or unbuttoning the bags’ side tabs to gain more of the bag’s capacity. This means that you can stuff that extra pair of pants inside if you “sadly” have to stay an extra day on vacation. Smartly hiding these buttons reminds us of how even the smallest refined details can make for an overall sleeker looking product.

FIT (CAPACITY)

While the Domingo bag certainly has everything in the looks department, don’t let the medium size fool you. We were able to comfortably fit clothing for a 3-day weekend into this bag. The list includes 2 blazers, 3 shirts, 2 polo’s, 3 pairs of pants, 2 beach shirts, socks, underwear, two pairs of shoes and even a straw fedora. Any more than 4 days and you might want to consider switching to a larger bag.

PRICE

The price on this Beckett Simonon Domingo Bag is reasonable. At $369, this bag is well under other bags like this J.W Hulme bag at $975 and extreme price of this Shinola Large Duffle at $1,295. You’re essentially getting a luxury bag for about a ¼ of the price of these other brands. Not to say other bags aren’t special in their own way, but this bag is as close to perfect as you can get from an aesthetic and financial standpoint. We live in a society that often wants to save money, but still indulge in the finer things. While we don’t believe that cheaper is necessarily better, this bag certainly fills a void in the overall wardrobe and lifestyle of a man who needs a quality, dependable and exquisite looking leather duffle. Look at purchasing this bag as an investment and something that will pay for itself over and over.

OVERALL

Simply put, the Domingo Duffle Bag from Beckett Simonon is a quality bag produced with superb details and product longevity in mind. They want this bag to be the last duffle you will ever have to purchase. Their idea of the perfect bag takes time. Waiting for 8-12 weeks for it was both torture and extremely gratifying at the same time. From the start of production until it reached our hands, we appreciated the time it took to produce such a wonderful product.
